If proofing were a super power, it would probably be mine. I’m not perfect—I don’t think anyone is—but I’m pretty good at it and I really enjoy it. When AP Stylebook was still a spiral-bound book, I had an almost photographic working knowledge of it. I could almost “see” the list of cities that aren’t followed by their state in datelines (probably my favorite entry).

So it’s always a pleasure when this project lands in my inbox with a request to proof it. Echo is the magazine of Battle Ground Academy, a K-12 private school in Williamson County, Tennessee. It’s published quarterly and is filled with the kinds of information and updates about the school that make me want to send my kids there every time I read it.
