For the March/April issue of American Spirit, the magazine for the Daughters of the American Revolution, I interviewed Laura Murphy, director of the Washington legislative office of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). I got to learn all about her job defending freedom (hence the title of the article), the passion that helps motivate her on a daily basis, as well as get a glimpse into what one of Washington’s most powerful women likes to do in her free time. Spoiler alert: We bonded over being HGTV and Food Network junkies.
